Our institute, founded in July, 1955, is located at the foot of Mount Maoling in scenic Jinan city. It is the unique institute characterized by the science of law in Shandong province.
This institute has a long history over half century from the original Shandong Polito-Legality Cadre Institute(1955) to Shandong Institute of Political Science and Law (1959). Holding tight to the tradition of researching diligently, questing eagerly, and educating widely, we have achieved great development in every respect. With our persistent efforts, this institute has been built into a comprehensive institute invested by Shandong province, producing a large number of excellent judges, public procurators and lawyers etc.
Our institute covers an area of 853 mu, among which 196,000㎡ for school premise. Its fixed assets are worth 0.4 billion and teaching equipment 30 million. With 850,000 printed books, 380,000 electronic books, our library is the advanced automatic one in Shandong province. We possesses a gymnasium of 8,000㎡ and an academic exchange center of 12,000㎡.
Our institute accommodates 617 staff, in which 142 are professors, 174 with master’s and doctoral degree and 8 supervisors for doctors and postgraduates. 3 teachers among the staff are rewarded Special Allowance of State Department. Over 40 teachers are chosen to be Elites of Law in Shandong province, 18 teachers are arbitrators in international and domestic arbitration committees. Three teachers are respectively elected as the members Legislation Consultation Council in Standing Committee of the municipal People’s Congress of Jinan.
Focusing on science of law, our institute is composed of 23 undergraduates and undergraduates majors in 12 departments, 8 research institutes such as institutes of economic laws and local legislation, covering sociology, humanities, administration.
Our institute, according priority to subject construction, focusing on teaching, encouraging teaching by means of researching, putting teachers in center, with aim of educating, promotes teaching reform and creation, so that the teaching quality has been improved steadily. Nationalized Research of “Clinic Law Education Mode” and System Construction of Practical Teaching of Law are designated as provincial major teaching reform projects by the Educational Bureau of Shandong province. Theory and Practice of Economic Law is rewarded as “excellent courses” and recommended as “national excellent courses” by Educational Bureau of Shandong province in 2006.
Since 2001, our institute has achieved 31 provincial subjects for scientific research, 15 subjects from Shandong Educational Bureau, 102 subjects of our own institute. There are 1541 academic articles published in journals of various sorts, 32 books published, 108 articles in CSSCI(Chinese Social Science Citation Index), 312 in Chinese Core Journals and enrolled by EI and ISTP, 14 provincial excellent awards in scientific research. As the first legal journal published in Shandong, our institutes journal The Politico-Legality Forum is rewarded as excellent journal of Shandong province.
Enhancing the spirit: “Extensive Learning, Devoted Practice, Sturdy Will and Just Manner” to perform the function of cultivating practical and comprehensive graduates, adhering to the goal of elite education, cultivation construction guideline, guaranteed by the teaching rules of organic environment construction, seeking for social support by contribution to society and social status by achievement and establishing modern university with modern managerial notion, we spare no effort to develop our institute into an institute characterized by science of law with national fame in about five years.
